BROKEN AND SPILLED OUT

Jacob experienced the reality of this great truth as he wrestled with the angel of the LORD until he was smitten on his hip, a sign of brokenness of his manly strength, which was the key to his blessing and dependency upon God. “Now when He saw that He (the angel) did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, ‘Let Me go, for the day breaks’. But he said, ‘I will not let You go unless You bless me!” (Genesis 32:25-26)

Without this brokenness Jacob would not have asked for the blessing and then would not have received it. This brokenness is what made him a prince with God, not his own strength, not his old identity, but his new identity that he acquired through his brokenness.

Jeremiah also experienced the reality of the price it would cost him to follow the prophetic calling. In this experience, he lost his human zeal and ambitious desire to be a prophet and had to face the reality of losing all his human respect desires and strength. He even thought God had deceived him by not telling him that it would cost him so much. It was a terrible thing for him as he experienced the fierceness of the power of that word and that it required absolute death to his self-will. “O LORD, You induced me, and I was persuaded; You are stronger than I, and have prevailed…” (Jeremiah 20:7)

This is the crucial point of every ministry. The problem is that we fail to realize that it is the greatest moment in the plan of God to move us into the supernatural power of the kingdom of God. The reason why so many ministries never manifest the supernatural power of God is that the servant of God is not willing to be broken. They think that they must maintain a façade of strength when God is looking for a humble and broken spirit. They have false ideas of spirituality which have been formed by tradition, society and personal opinion and the word does not burn in them as it did in Jeremiah.

God is looking for those who have the Spirit. Without it we will not be able to receive and retain the impartation of God’s power. Without it we will not even seek it.
In His Love,
