LIFE GIVING POWER

As Jesus is preparing the disciples for his purpose in being born, He reveals also our purpose for being born and that is to die.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever DESIRES TO SAVE HIS LIFE WILL LOSE IT, AND WHOEVER LOSES HIS LIFE FOR MY SAKE WILL FIND IT.’ ”(Matthew 16:24-25 KJV) “The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. MY FATHER WILL HONOR THE ONE WHO SERVES ME.” (John 12:25-26 NIV)

The truth Jesus reveals is in the value of one kernel. The value is not the possession of one kernel, but it is in the potential power of one to be multiplied thousands by the process of DEATH.

We know the reality of this truth by observing the laws of nature. One little cherry seed when planted will in maturity bring forth thousands of other cherries. This is a principal that does not follow our natural laws of mathematics but is a dynamic living law of life-giving power.

Jesus said the one who loves his life and who is WILLING TO LOSE IT, WILL FIND IT. That is the kind of love we need in order to find God’s love.

  • LOVE: PHILEO is a Greek word that means TO BE A FRIEND, TO BE FOND OF AN INDIVIDUAL OR OBJECT, HAVING AFFECTION FOR SUCH A WAY AS TO DENOTE PERSONAL ATTACHMENT AS A MATTER OF SENTIMENT OR FEELING, TO KISS AS A MARK OF TENDERNESS AND CLOSENESS AND POXIMITY TO THE THING OR ONE ATTACHED TO.

  • LOSE: APOLLUMI is a Greek word that means TO DESTROY FULLY, TO PERISH, DIE, OR MAR.

  • HATE: MISEO is a Greek word that means TO DETEST EVEN TO THE POINT OF PERSECUTION, TO LOVE LESS.

Once again we can see clearly in the definitions given above that Jesus is referring to our relationships to people, persons and things that we are very attached to and have fond and tender feelings towards. Those things we value or esteem valuable to us.

If we consider ourselves a person who has been able to become emotionally involved in giving and receiving love, then we are the ones who have the choice to lose willingly or else suffer emotional destruction. Our choice is actually our humble acknowledgement to God that though we have blessings and life from Him, it isn’t enough. We need to experience life that is willing to be utterly destroyed to have an impact upon others. We can touch one life as we choose to hang on to what we have, but we can touch thousands as we release our life and experience the “agape” love of God.

  • LOVE: AGAPE – Greek word that means love that is affection or benevolence, A LOVE FEAST FOR MANY (not for one) FEAST OF CHARITY FOR MANY.

The power of this love is for many as we are willing to be a vessel to pour out love to others. We will lose our life by giving to receive a completely new love, agape love.

This is the on-going process of identity and impartation that Jesus will complete in us. We will continue to grow from one glory to another as we serve Him. We can ever forget that we are His servants for His glory and His purpose. As we always remain in this humble attitude towards Him, then nothing will seem too hard for us to do for Him. It only requires our WILLINGNESS to LOSE our life in order to have His life.

What is our reward for being willing to lose everything for Jesus? Jesus said the Father would honor you. HONOR: TIMAO is a Greek word that means TO PRIZE, TO FIX A VALUATION UPON TO HONOR, TO VALUE. This honor is the true value of our life. It is the value the Father as given our life that is an eternal worth that can never be depreciated or destroyed.
In His Love,
