THE FIRST DEGREE OF ANOINTING

Our life is so busy and so complicated sometimes that we are far from the simple things. We cannot see the simple things in our lives, and because we have become so sophisticated, and so world wise, we do not know how to become like a child. There is a place in our lives where God just wants to reach into the depths of our heart.

Naaman came to pay Elisha a good some of money, but Naaman came to realize that his gold and fame had no power, and the things that were important for a warrior had no power because he was a leper and he was numb. As he came, Elisha would not come out to speak to him because Elisha did not see him as a mighty man, but as a leper, even so Naaman was a mighty warrior and had mighty victories. Elisha knew he could not touch an unclean man; that was the law. God cannot do what He wants to do in some of our lives because we are lepers, and we do not allow the anointing of the Spirit to move in our lives to receive a new to break the yoke.

We have victories, but afterwards, come the depression, captivity and sorrow. Elisha told Naaman to baptize himself in the Jordan. Sometimes for us to be cleansed, God requires things we reject. They seem to us to be so unwise and impossible. Naaman didn’t want to go into the Jordan. He had his pride, even though he was a leper. A servant convinced him and he was cleansed. After he was cleansed Elijah came out of the chamber to meet him face to face. He was no longer a leper, but a mighty man who was cleansed by the mighty power of His word. At times, we pray to God and He seems so far away. In some areas of our lives we do not allow the power of the spirit to move us, and there is numbness.

Naaman wanted to pay Elisha to show him his gratitude, but Elisha said no. He wanted him to be indebted to God.

The first degree of anointing will teach us a new value system. If we are not indebted to Christ, it says, “Her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much.”(Luke 7:47) How can you be forgiven when you want to pay it off?

Some of you have had things happen in your life years ago, and I am not saying that you have to tell it to anybody, but I tell you this, that you have to go to Jordan to be cleansed. After Naaman was cleansed, Elisha talked to him, so that he knew that it was not Elisha’s gifts, and he could not pay it off.

If we make little of the anointing because the system of this world is dominating our thinking, emotions and our life style, we will allow spiritual leprosy to come upon us. We have to come to the place where we walk in the power of the anointing that the Lord has given to us, to break the yoke in our lives.

In His Love,
