THE THIRD DEGREE OF ANOINTING

David was anointed three times in his life. The first anointing teaches a new exchange value and that we cannot exchange things through the anointing. The second time David was anointed, he was anointed over Judah and he reigned seven years. He was anointed in Hebron, and the difference was that the first time David was anointed, he did not wear a crown or the kingly robes. In those days you recognized a man by his clothes. Even though he was not recognized at first as the king, his actions showed who he was.

The foot is the closest body part to the earth, and collects the particles of the earth. That is why it is important that we wash each other’s feet. I do not mean literally, but that we bless each other’s progress spiritually. Feet speak of progress, and we need to bless each other’s progress because every progress that we make is connected to earth.

Although people did not recognize David as a king as he was covered in earth, his action and his prophetic gifts showed that he had the power of God. In the second anointing, David was no longer a shepherd boy, and one could see that he was the king. He rode the horse of a king; he carried the weapon of a king; he wore the clothes of a king and he had the presence of a king. In the second anointing, our presence will be emanated through our personality and not only through the things that we act out, but who we are in Christ Jesus.

In the third anointing, we do not only show Christ’s character, but we direct people into the future. God wants to take the limitations of time and make us realize and recognize the eternal value. Sometimes in our struggle of life, we lose our vision; we lose the power of eternity because everything we measure, we measure according to time, but we cannot measure heavenly things with earthly measurements. 2 Samuel 5:1-5 speaks of David’s reign over all of Israel.

When we are in the first anointing, we are too close to the earth. We hear prophesy, but we live in the earth, and we are carnal minded. It is only the anointing which can break us out. God wants to perfect us.

Israel means, a prince with God. Israel was named after Jacob, a deceiver. Israel became a prince with God because he became a prince in struggle. Some of us think we are strong in our victories, but we actually get strong in the struggle. As we do not give up struggling, we let God move in to bless us in our struggle and continue to hang on. When a baby is born it has to struggle or it will die, and when the birth comes, you want the baby to scream, you want it to express itself. When The Church is struggling, we are going to come into a new place.

The first task David had, in the third anointing as he was anointed to reign over struggling Israel was to conquer Jerusalem. (2 Samuel 5:6-10) No one before David had ever conquered Jerusalem. David was not anointed in Jerusalem. He had to conquer Jerusalem so that he could move out from the City of Zion, from the City of the Redeemed.
In His Love,
